Edinburgh’s most generous wine tasting returns this spring as Great Grog opens the doors to its Big Spring Wine Fair on Saturday 18 April 2026, offering two relaxed, discovery‑driven sessions at the Greyfriars Charteris Centre on Pleasance.

With 100+ wines to explore and producers pouring on the day, it’s one of the city’s most convivial ways to taste widely, chat freely, and find new favourites.

This year, Bite readers get something special: 4 pairs of tickets for each session at the exclusive price of £45 per pair — a saving on the standard £60 for two.

Whether you’re scouting bottles for spring hosting, brushing up on regions you’ve been meaning to explore, or simply looking for a sociable afternoon or evening out, the Spring Fair is built for wandering, sipping, and discovering at your own pace.

The Sessions

Afternoon Session

2:30pm–5:00pm   Standard price: £30 per person Bite offer: 4 pairs available at £45 per pair   Expect a lively crowd, plenty of daylight for swirling and assessing, and producers fresh from setting up and ready to talk.

Evening Session

6:00pm–8:30pm   Standard price: £30 per person Bite offer: 4 pairs available at £45 per pair   A slightly after‑hours feel — ideal if you prefer a post‑work tasting or want to make a night of it.

What to Expect

  • 100+ wines across styles, regions, and price points

  • Producers and importers pouring and chatting throughout the room

  • A relaxed, roam‑as‑you‑like format — no lectures, no pressure

  • A chance to taste broadly before committing to bottles

  • A reliably friendly, Edinburgh‑wine‑scene crowd

Scottish licensing laws apply, and the event is strictly 18+.

Why This Fair Matters

Great Grog’s fairs have become a fixture because they strike the balance many tastings miss: generous but not overwhelming, informative without being formal, and genuinely useful for anyone who wants to taste beyond supermarket shelves. For Bite readers — especially those building confidence in wine or looking for local, community‑rooted events — it’s a perfect fit.

And with the exclusive £45 Bite pairs, it’s also one of the best‑value wine events in the city this spring.
