What to Expect at the Dornoch Whisky Festival 2025
The Dornoch Whisky Festival is an annual must-attend weekend for serious fans of the water of life, which takes place between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th October. In its 10th year, the festival programme boasts a whole series of events which allow dram fans to mingle with fellow whisky lovers, meet and learn from experts, and sample incredible whiskies from all over Scotland.
At the festival’s heart is education, so whether that is introducing people to the wonderful world of whisky or helping seasoned experts deepen their knowledge, there is something for everyone.
However, if you fancy an unforgettable night of whisky & storytelling, then the UK’s most northerly fine dining destination, Links House, is playing host to an exclusive evening for whisky connoisseurs.
Fine Dining Meets Whisky at Links House’s MARA Restaurant
The UK's most northerly 5-star luxury hotel destination holds the most northerly Michelin Key in the country and is home to MARA - their finest dining restaurant, which holds two AA rosettes for culinary excellence.
Stephen Rankin: A Keeper of the Quaich

On Saturday, 25th Links House will be hosting a special event with Stephen Rankin, Director of Prestige at Gordon & MacPhail. For those of you who don’t know, Stephen Rankin is a fourth-generation member of the renowned Urquhart family and a holder of both Keeper of the Quaich and Master of the Quaich honours. He is among the most respected voices in whisky.
Links House’s MARA Restaurant will provide the intimate setting for both hotel guests and non-residents to congregate and learn more about Scotland’s national drink from a real expert and experience a meticulously crafted five-course tasting menu, which showcases the finest seasonal ingredients and Highland traditions.
The exclusive event is limited to just 28 guests and costs £100 per guest. You would be foolish to miss out on either the optional Whisky Pairing: £100 per guest or the wine pairing: £65 per guest. Tickets must be booked in advance.
