Fruit, veg, artisan treats and live music

With the warm summer weather, many crops are plentiful now -and available at Haddington Farmers Market this Saturday.

Beetroot, blackcurrants, blueberries, brambles, broad beans, broccoli, celery, courgettes, cucumber, gooseberries, lettuce, mangetout, pears, peas, plums, radishes, rasps, redcurrants, runner beans, squash, strawberries and tomatoes. Phantassie, who farm just outside East Linton, will have their usual stall bursting with seasonal produce.

Make the most of them - whether you’re roasting pickling or baking, now’s the time to

savour those summer flavours. Turn tomatoes into tarts, salsa, gazpacho, bruschetta or relish. Cucumbers make delicious Raita, chilled soup, or how about Fidra Gin Cucumber Spritz? Try making Courgette Fritters or spiced Aubergine Chutney. As well as being suitable for home freezing, blueberries can be turned into Muffins or Vinegar; while plums make good chutney, Galettes or Plum and Almond Cake - the opportunities are endless.

A thrilling collaboration between two local businesses - Love Ice Cream and Winton

Brewery, has resulted in a beer inspired ‘Mon Then IPA Ice Cream’. It’s refreshing and

beautifully aromatic. Plus, the launch of Banana Ice Cream. Samples of both will be available

from Love Ice Cream’s trailer.

There will also be artisan bread, freshly roasted coffee, handmade chocolates, tray bakes,

vegan kukus, pies, pate, Scotch eggs, 5-a-day ready meals, venison, smoked fish, pork, beef,

lamb, locally brewed beer, spicy sauces, flour, honey, apple juice, ferments, charcuterie,

jam, gin, soap, plants, chutney, French patisserie, homeware, cards and gifts.

With a total of 27 stallholders, you will find a wide range of local and seasonal food, drinks

crafts, gifts and Haddington Pipe Band at Haddington Farmers’ Market, Court Street,

Haddington, Saturday 30th August, 9am-1pm.
