Glen Cosby
New Review

Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Glenn Cosby and I am an English Teacher turned food presenter, writer and entertainer.

What would you cook for a romantic dinner a deux?I would cook a chateaubriand steak, rare, with béarnaise sauce and rocket salad to share followed by a chocolate mousse.

Who would be your ideal date and why?
My ideal date would be a sunset walk with my husband and dog followed by a meal somewhere relaxed where we could watch the sun set over the water.

What would you drink?
I would drink cider if we are home, in the West Country, heavy if I'm in Scotland or wine if we were anywhere else.

What is the most romantic meal you have ever eaten? Where was it and why was it so romantic?
Spaghetti carbonara in the Piazza Farnese in Rome -it was romantic because it was the first night of our honeymoon.

What is your idea of an aphrodisiac food?Shellfish - although my husband hates it.

What would be your ideal soundtrack for a romantic meal?
The sound of waves crashing against the shore.

What is your favourite Food/Drink related song/piece of music and why?
If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake by Eileen Barton because we are playing it before my entrance on the tour - I associate it with the mixture of coursing adrenalin and nausea.

What is your favourite restaurant in Edinburgh and why!
It's been twenty years since I lived in Edinburgh so I don't know the scene well anymore - I loved the Witchery back in the 90s and I know that's still going. If I say 'Kitchin' do you think I'll jump the queue?

And elsewhere?
The Exe Café which is on a pontoon in the middle of the Exe estuary just a few miles from where I live serving wonderful fresh and local fish and seafood.

What is your fave bar and why?
Sorry to dodge the question but it would be a pub, the Double Locks, again near where I live which is on the route of the most wonderful dog walk and serves local Devonshire cider.
Who would you most like to go out drinking with and why?
Who? My husband. Why? Because rohypnol isn't legal.

Any embarrassing food faux pas?
Eating my own body weight of cake at a friend's wedding probably wasn't my coolest move.

What would you pack for a picnic?
Everything! Champagne, homemade bread, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, pork pies, smoked salmon.

What would order for your last meal?
A 20 course taster menu - to try and delay the inevitable. Or macaroni cheese with crispy bacon.
