I actually passed on the croc croquettes for starter at this fun and unique restaurant. Instead I chose the cumin flavoured wild boar parcels which were delicious with a hot and sour sauce whilst Mr Bite had the chicken and coriander skewers. We were experiencing the full Mongolian Feast which is £26.95 per person with starter, dessert and as many main courses as you like. Now there's a challenge.

For mains you choose from rice, noodles, vegetables, exotic meats and seafood and add sauces, oils, herbs and spices. Suggested recipes guide you and when you have designed your dinner it is cooked on a hot plate. I conservatively chose a Thai Green Curry and was very pleased with the results; just the right amount of chilli heat and sweet coconut. My second helping, a 'Magic Bowl' recipe of sweet and sour beef was hot and fruity.

Mr Bite was far more adventurous. A wild boar combo was followed by llama and then horse. Recipes are described as hot and spicy, mild, etc. It is really best to follow these although by the time Mr B got to his third main he was confident enough to go 'off-piste". Thus the suggested Bobby's Bum Buster (with horse and 'only for the brave') was pimped with extra sweetcorn and nuts “for more texture".

Desserts were impressive. I loved my choice of Turkish delight cheesecake which had a lush texture and perfumed floral flavour. Mr Bite went for the snickers pie which the staff had recommended as a favourite.

This restaurant is a whole heap of fun and even has a soundtrack of mystical rave and exotic beats. It's a great place to take visitors or have a party. For special occasions they can seat a member of your party on their very own throne and dress them in full Mongolian warlord costume. A shot of chilled Mongolian vodka and some pyrotechnics may distract from their general humiliation.

Khublai Khan's have recently started doing lunches too. The carrot and coriander fritters caught my eye although Mr Bite is bound to choose the kangaroo gyros.
