Mulled Wine

With so many recipes to choose from I've plumped for one of many Scandanavian versions all called Glogg.


In a heavy based pan heat 2 bottles of red wine, 1/2 bottle of akvavit, 15 cardamom pods, 2 cinnamon sticks, 5 cloves, the peel of 1 large orange, 250gms caster sugar, 250gms raisins and 250gms almonds for 45 minutes.


Strain and serve immediately in cups with a few raisins and almonds.
