Summer at Origin Coffee in Edinburgh
The award-winning B Corp-certified speciality coffee roasters will host guest chef pop-up dinners across August with Sando and chef Archie Herbert , coffee soft-serve with Oatly, and a Negroni bar with local distiller Electric Spirit Co . Chef pop-ups Throughout August, Origin Coffee on South College Street will host dinner events with a Japanese-inspired small plate set menu from Sando and a Korean-inspired menu from Archie Herbert . Kicking things off with Sando between 5th and 11th August , guests can enjoy a fun, five-course menu starting with Wasabi pea-dusted popcorn; followed by 100-layer potato and soy-cured egg yolk served with chilli crisp and chives. Main dishes include an option of Chicken or cauliflower Karaage with miso aioli and pickled ginger; and a Katsu sando with white cabbage and katsu sauce. To finish, an indulgent, pillowy soft Milk bread French toast pudding served with coffee soft serve and yuzu caramel sauce for a hint of umami. Tickets for the Sando dinners are available online from £40 per person from 5th - 11th August. Two sittings are available between 6-8 pm and 9-11 pm. From the 14th to the 18th of August, Chef Archie Herbert will host a Korean-inspired three-course menu. The casual menu starts with House pickles, Kimchi, and pickled baby cucumbers; followed by a moreish rice bowl of Gochujang marinated pork belly, spicy kimchi, soutéed miso shimeji mushrooms, smacked cucumbers, pickled radish, Korean Mayak ‘drug’ egg and Korean mayonnaise served on a bed of sushi rice . For dessert, a Wasabi ice cream with pistachio for a sweet, spicy, and salty finish. Tickets for Archie’s dinner will be £28 per person from 14th - 18th August and are available to buy online . Origin x Oatly Origin is serving a limited edition Origin x Oatly coffee soft serve throughout the summer. Origin Coffee x Electric Spirit Co Negroni Bar Finally, Origin Coffee will join forces with Edinburgh distillery Electric Spirit Co transforming the coffee shop into a bar space just a stone's throw from the heart of the Fringe. Throughout August, the bar will offer Electric Spirit Co’s new Kegroni , bringing quality negronis-on-tap to Origin Coffee. The Kegroni combines Electric Spirit Co’s award-winning Achroous gin with aromatic Bitter Fusetti and Valentian Vermouth, making for an exceptional negroni to be enjoyed pre, post, or in between performances.
