The Wee Restaurant - wee deliveries

I have to admit that when the current lockdown started, as well as feeling devastated for our vibrant hospitality scene, when some of my favourite Edinburgh restaurants started to offer takeaway and delivery options I had some serious food envy going on over here in Fife! Until The Wee Restaurant in North Queensferry launched their Wee Deliveries, that is. As well as delicious dishes from the restaurant, they are also supporting their local suppliers and offering options for customers to have meat packs, alcohol, and even extra virgin olive oil delivered locally. My son’s 17th birthday had been a bit of a non-starter, so it was lovely to set the table on a Saturday evening and share a restaurant meal together in our own home. He chose the starter of pork terrine with sauce gribiche, we both had ox cheeks braised in red wine sauce with pak choi and Lyonnaise potatoes, and then a beautiful cheese selection with oatcakes, golden raisins and Bramley apple chutney. I tried my best to make it look pretty! Everything was really delicious but the beef cheeks were the absolute highlight for both of us. The sauce was so deep and rich, and the slow cooked beef had the most perfect gelatinous texture, such a treat.
Starters and desserts/cheese are for 2 people, mains are individual portions and a 3 course meal for 2 people comes in at a very reasonable £35-40 and the portions are a good size. You can now order online on their website between 9am on Mondays and 5pm on Wednesdays for a Saturday delivery. Hot dishes require heating up at home, and you’ll have a restaurant quality meal on the table in just a few minutes – we’ll definitely be ordering again
