Ozen, a colourful new street food venue for Rose Street

By Sharon Wilson

Ozen Street Food opened on Rose Street Lane North Saturday April 10 selling pan-Asian food.

It is being promoted as 'possibly' the most 'instagrammable' culinary experience in the city as the crew serve up rainbow spring rolls and multi-coloured dumplings made from locally sourced ingredients and complemented with a range of 'secret sauces'.

Highlights include bao buns stuffed with a choice of fried chicken, prawns, halloumi, or fresh cauliflower fillings .

Vivid Vietnamese-style spring rolls are also on offer alongside fried buns bursting with Nutella or matcha or orange blossom cheesecake. Fortune cookies with every order will convey words of wisdom or a discount code for a future order.

Ozen is the vision of Chris Thomas, 23, and Mahdi Ben Hamou, AKA ‘Mezzo’, a food-obsessed pair who met whilst DJ’ing. Chris explained:

‘The flavours, the brand, the energy of what we’re bringing to Edinburgh is totally new. There’s nothing else like this. The menu is bold, the presentation is playful, but most importantly the flavours are fresh and full’.

However continues Mezzo:

‘We’re remaining true to the essential flavour combinations that will give each of our dishes that unmistakable Asian kick’.
