Fizz Festival comes to Edinburgh
Fizz Festival comes to Edinburgh

Cracking Wine, organisers of the UK's first Fizz Festival in Cheshire, has partnered with Diana Thompson from Thompson PR to bring the event to Edinburgh on 29th October 2016.

The Fizz Festival, the only UK consumer wine fair dedicated to Champagne and sparkling wine, will take place at The Edinburgh Academy on Henderson Row.  This one day event will incorporate independent wine merchants, specialist masterclasses and local Scottish food producers with visitors able to taste, learn about and buy fizz from around the world.

Following the same model as the sell-out success of the first Fizz Festival, hosted in Cheshire, producers, importers and retailers of Champagne and sparkling wine will be on hand to give expert advice on all things sparkling.

Fizz Festival People's Choice Award (Scotland)

Visitors will be able to cast their vote for their favourite fizz at the Festival in the following categories;
1.Best Champagne
2.Sparkling Wine -  UK
3.Best Sparkling Wine - Rest of World

The People's Choice Awards and winners of competitions held by exhibitors on the day will be held at a closing ceremony at 7.15pm, in association with Scottish Field magazine. Fizz and oysters will be served at the awards.

There will be two sessions for visitors to choose from: 12pm-3pm and 4pm-7pm on Saturday 29th October.  During each session there will be several Masterclasses running such as a Tattinger and Jelly Beans pairing offering visitors a chance to gain some more insight into the world of fizz.

"It's very exciting to be bringing The Fizz Festival to Edinburgh " says co-organiser Diana Thompson "Janet has created a fantastic event and since Edinburgh is synonymous with festivals what better than to have a Fizz Festival in the run up to Christmas?  We are working closely with the independent wine companies in order that this unique event also serves as a showcase for the sparkling wines and Champagnes available in and around Edinburgh.  We're expecting to be showing well over 100 sparkling wines and Champagnes."

 "I'm thrilled to be working with an experienced professional like Diana to bring the Fizz Festival to Edinburgh, it is crucial to have someone with local knowledge" states Janet Harrison, owner of Cracking wine and founder of the Fizz Festival. "We attracted such a great crowd of fizz-fanatics last year who loved the concept and bought lots of wine too!  I think Edinburgh is a perfect place for the next stage in our plans to expand the concept to other areas".

Tickets are now available online through www.crackingwine.co.uk. Bite has ltd pairs of tickets on special offer here

Cracking Wine organised the UK's first Fizz Festival at Altrincham Town Hall in November 2015 which was a sell- out event with around 400 people attending.  It was a fantastic mix of specialist retailers, producers and importers of Champagne and sparkling wines from all over the world.  An English Sparkling wine: Camel Valley Rose won the Fizz Festival people's choice award.  It returns on 12th & 13th November in the same venue with an awards ceremony to celebrate the best Champagne, UK sparkling wine and sparkling wine (rest of world) as chosen by the attendees of the festival.

Plans are underway for Fizz Festivals in other areas as well as a series of Fizz Clubs around the UK to satisfy the current thirst for knowledge of all things sparkling (every pun intended).
