Calistoga, one of Edinburgh’s most popular restaurants, is celebrating its tenth birthday in August.

Calistoga, which is known for its delicious Californian cuisine, is offering diners the opportunity to celebrate with them.

Gordon Minnis, owner of the restaurant, says “Calistoga continues to go from strength to strength, attracting not just local diners, but visitors from throughout the UK and beyond, who keep returning for our innovative cooking, regular wine tastings and wine tasting dinners, and our friendly welcome. To celebrate our birthday, we will be hosting a series of wine tasting dinners between August and October, starting with our birthday event on Thursday 14 August, between 7.30-9.30pm.  Tickets cost £25 per person. At this special event, we will be tasting a Californian wine from each year that we have been open and adding an eleventh wine as a bonus.  The tasting of each wine will be accompanied by a live video link to its winery - some of those participating include Domain Carneros, Paul Hobbs, Viader and St Supery.  We will also be serving canapés and a buffet."

The restaurant has a well-deserved reputation for the quality of its wine list. Calistoga's wine selection was recently included on the 'commended' list by Imbibe magazine in their 2014 Wine List of the Year - one of only two Scottish restaurants to receive this accolade.

Calistoga was awarded an AA rosette earlier this year, as well as being short-listed for the AA Wine List of the Year.  For those who have not yet sampled the delights of Calistoga cuisine, just some of the tempting main courses currently on offer include crispy panko cod with potato salad and lemon chutney; slow cooked pork belly with sweet potato fries, blue cheese and walnut salad and BBQ sauce, or beetroot and arugula risotto rice cake.

Those with a sweet tooth can choose from desserts such as passion fruit three ways,  key lime cheesecake with marinated cherries or dark chocolate and ginger delice.
