The Lovat’s Station Road – only restaurant in Scotland to be awarded Three AA Rosettes

One of the Scottish Highland's best loved hotels, The Lovat Loch Ness, has just been awarded Three AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence (announced today).  Of the 18 UK restaurants which received the coveted Three AA Rosettes, The Lovat's Station Road restaurant is the only one in Scotland.

According to the AA, Three Rosettes are only awarded to 'outstanding restaurants that achieve standards that demand national recognition well beyond their local area. The cooking will be underpinned by the selection and sympathetic treatment of the highest quality ingredients. Timing, seasoning and the judgment of flavour combinations will be consistently excellent. These virtues will tend to be supported by other elements such as intuitive service and a well-chosen wine list. Around 10% of the hotels/restaurants within the AA Restaurant Guide will have Three Rosettes and above'.

Open from Easter to October (plus Valentine's weekend), the hotel's Three AA Rosette restaurant (newly renamed Station Road) offers a unique selection of experimental twists on traditional dishes that truly enhance the flavour of the finest Scottish produce. From chef Sean Kelly's signature dish of 'shellfish, shells and seaweed' to his 'cheese on toast' as well as chanterelles, wild fruit and herbs foraged by the team, Station Road proudly showcases a diverse and creative five course set menu.

Only a handful of restaurants in the Scottish Highlands have achieved three AA Rosettes, including The Torridon run by Caroline Gregory's sister and Inverlochy Castle, with Station Road at The Lovat the only one in Scotland to be awarded Three Rosettes so far in 2014.

Owner of The Lovat Loch Ness, Caroline said:  “Sean has worked exceptionally hard to achieve this accolade, which is testament to his intriguing menu ideas, dedication and attention to detail.  The aim of Station Road is to break down barriers on what is considered fine dining to encourage guests to sample our menu and be excited by food and flavours.  We are proud to be on the foodie map of Three Rosettes."

Boasting luxury accommodation and contemporary comfort, guests at The Lovat Loch Ness can enjoy a Highland getaway in an idyllic location with uninterrupted views of the Great Glen and the famous Loch Ness. Situated on the southern tip of Loch Ness in the beautiful setting of Fort Augustus, the hotel is just a 45 minute drive from Inverness and Ben Nevis and 90 minutes for the Isle of Skye.
