So you want to be involved with BITEmagazine. There are several ways to go about this. Here they are. Please note that, for the time being, all jobs are part time and nonpaying (aside from commission for Ad Sales Reps). They are ideal internships if you're a college student and want magazine experience on your resume.
Writing
The easiest way to get involved with BITEmagazine is to submit your writing. Please read carefully the submissions guidelines before doing so. You can send your submissions to bite.magazine@gmail.com. The deadline for the breakout issue is May 31. Submissions received after that will be considered for the November (or February. Or May.) issue.
Photography
Do you have experience taking interesting pictures of people? Do you have a high quality digital camera or a regular camera and a scanner? Do you have a flexible schedule, so you can meet authors on location and take pictures of them? Let BITEmagazine know.
Ad sales/marketing
Are you a business student? Are you extremely outgoing and good with people? Are you both? Do you want something great to put on your resume? Tell me why you want to work with my amazing PR and Ad Sales Director as an Ad Sales Representative. This is a job where there is no office, no dress code, no set hours, and a 3% commission on ad sales (it's not much, but there are no other paid positions at BITEmagazine at this time).
Editing
I'm looking for a fiction editor and nonfiction editor. You don't need actual editorial experience--being someone's editorial assistant is not really going to prepare you for this job. Please just be well-read, responsible, and opinionated. This job entails reading all the submissions that come in (for either fiction or nonfiction) and weeding them out. You'll pass the best ones along to me. Interested?
