The Queens Arms in Edinburgh has been awarded the coveted Gastropub of the Year title at this year's DRAM Awards, just weeks after opening the doors on an impressive £250,000 refurbishment.


General Manager Alec Trousdale was also awarded Bar Personality of the Year at the ceremony which took place at the Glasgow Thistle Hotel last night.
Alec commented: “The new menu at The Queens Arms has been a real labour of love and we are thrilled to have received this recognition, particularly so soon after reopening."


The pub was praised by the judges for outstanding food which far exceeded their expectations of 'pub grub'. Particular praise was lavished upon the chicken pie which Susan Young and the other judges agreed was the best they had ever had!


Focusing on seasonality, simplicity and locally-sourced ingredients the menu offers modern twists on traditional Scottish classics, such as the slowly cooked Ayrshire pork belly served with a haggis fritter and colcannon. The menu at The Queens Arms is filled with delicious dishes, cooked simply but with flair, and holds a broad appeal. It was felt that there was a real gap in the market for a traditional pub with a seriously good food offering and this was reflected in the development of the menu.


Signature Pub Group, which has invested a quarter of a million pounds into the redevelopment of one of Edinburgh's favourite licensed establishments, has put its own unique stamp on the traditional pub, creating a comfortable space with contemporary twists throughout.
